LIBRARY OF EXPERIENCES
REPOSITORY
This workshop provides a space for anyone who wants to explore the relationship between music and visual storytelling, and to experiment with rhythm and tone using the medium of comics.
During the workshop, we will explore the role of music in affecting our inner thoughts and feelings, and how that in return shapes the way we visualize and draw, as well as the story’s pacing and rhythm.
Whether you are a big fan of comics, or a complete beginner, all skill levels are welcome!
Meet the artist:
Jeanine El Khawand is a visual artist, illustrator and animator based between Bergen and Beirut. She has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the Lebanese University and a Masters in Visual Arts from the Académie Libanaise des BeauxArts, where she has later taught Character Design and Principles of 2D animation.
Jeanine has always used drawing as a way to process the world, and she is interested in the potential of art, comics and storytelling as tools for social change.
She is the winner of the national comic strip competition (Stripseriekonkurransen 2020) and her comics series “The Good Innvandrer” has been printed in national newspapers as well as Swedish publications.
During the workshop we will be:

- finalizing a one page comic
We will learn following techniques:
- exploring “penciling” and “inking” comics
- exploring different colouring methods (color pencils, watercolor)
The objective:
The aim of the workshop is to teach participants the skills of storytelling through drawing. They will receive necessary tools to express their ideas into unique one-page comic strip. During the workshop we will explore the relationship between music and visual arts and their effect on emotions, as well as translate feelings into images. The workshop is just the beginning of the journey. We hope to foster curiosity and excitement in our participants, so that they can create unique comics at home!
